2026 David “Chuffy” Atkinson Memorial Trophy Tournament 

The day dawned damp – there were puddles en route to KES! First significant rain in weeks. Ten intrepid archers lined up for the one end of sighters we were allowed. Four targets at 60m, two at 40m. The longbows were outnumbered 2 to 8. The rain began to fall…

…and then it stopped! The scoring ends began and the sun shone (and the wind blew!). We were all honing our arrows, the longbows (mostly) hitting the target and the recurves finding some golds, then poof! the distance was done! Just when we were all getting the hang of it! The second distance began with a few overshoots and some grass-searching, but all were found, the sights adjusted and we settled into the next two and a half dozen.  

So, the range was dismantled, the numbers crunched and the results were in.

In bronze medal position – Dave and his longbow with a combined score of 1441

In silver – Helen (recurve) on 1467

And in gold medal position and recipient of the trophy was – Kushan (recurve) with 1469!

This is the second year running that Kushan has triumphed, and no one was more surprised than Kushan himself! He was a worthy winner. Congratulations Kushan!
