St George’s Day Clout 2022

On Sunday 24 th April 2022, a double two way clout took place at the club. Three distances were chosen, some stayed at a single distance whilst others took the

opportunity to shoot two. The results are shown below.

(JB’s longbow score would have placed him 3rd in the county clout championships last year and John H would have been second in the gents barebow).

A clout round is 36 arrows shot in ends of 6 arrows. A flag is placed at the chosen distance away from the shooting line and to score you must get an arrow within 12 feet of the flag. To score a clout and get 5 points your arrow must be within 18 inches of the flag. Then after scoring we walked forward to another shooting line turned round and shot back from where we came.

Sounds easy but, with changeable winds I can assure you it is not.

Highest individual Clout score per distance:

100 yds = Dave, 140 yrds = Barry, 180 yds = John H

Highest score for a double clout per distance:

100 yds = Mel, 140 yds = Barry, 180 yds = John B
