Barry Shears Memorial Tournament

Post date: Oct 17, 2014 11:39:08 AM

This Sunday, 19th October, sees the first staging of the Barry Shears Memorial Tournament.  It is almost a year since Barry's sad passing and to mark the anniversary, we will be holding a tournament for all club members which will comprise of a National round - Barry's favoured outdoor round. There will be a trophy awarded to the archer with the highest handicap score and medals for the runners up. The trophy is very special as it was made by Barry and was among the items donated to the club by his family, for which we are grateful.

As well as the Barry Shears Trophy, the presentation of the Chairman's Cup will also take place, which this year will be awarded to the archer with the highest combined handicap total accrued throughout the year at the Club's four handicap shoots - the St George, the David Atkinson Memorial, the Club Championships and the Barry Shears Memorial. This will be the third presentation of the Chairman's Cup which was introduced by Barry in his last year as Chairman at the club, in 2012.

At the time of writing, the weather forecast for Sunday is dry but overcast, with temperatures above average for the time of year, so why not come along and compete for this new club trophy and your chance to have your name at the top of the plaque!

Please Note:- This is the last outdoor shoot of the season and we will be moving indoors from Sunday 26th October. The times remain the same 9am - 12pm, set up from 8.45am.
